Microsoft has blown its trumpet big time for its latest Windows 8 operating system, which the company has designed especially to function on traditional desktops as well as on touch devices. Previously, Jim Zemlin, executive director of The Linux Foundation said that this 'brilliant' idea of a hybrid Windows 8 operating system may not gain momentum at all as users prefer to use Windows 8 with a keyboard and mouse and not on a touch screen.

Clay Bavor, director of product management for Google’s Apps also feels the same. In an interview to the UK site V3, Bavor said that Google is not at all interested in investing on Windows apps, given the fact that Windows Phone hardly sells and developers are not too much keen on supporting Microsoft’s platforms in a market dominated by Android and iOS.
“We have no plans to build out Windows apps. We are very careful about where we invest and will go where the users are but they are not on Windows Phone or Windows 8. If that changes, we would invest there, of course,” said Bavor in the interview.
"Microsoft is stuck in the space between the desktop-driven, cost per software license world they dominated and the era we are just now entering: a world driven by open source software and services,” said Jim Zemlin, executive director, Linux Foundation in his official blog posting.
