Friday, November 30, 2012:
ZenFocus, the Gurgaon-based company has been actively functioning within the tablet PC segment in the country. Over the last 12 months, the company has unveiled multiple range of affordable tablets in the country. And moving forward the company is looking to diversify itself across different price-points and products. “We have focused on the tablet segment in India with thorough preparation and our way of operation has been a step by step process,” said Mike Dhall,CEO, ZenFocus. Prior to entering the consumer-end market, the company had entered the enterprise segment with its tablet PCs, where received well, he said.
Initially, the company targeted the sub Rs 8,000 price point with small-screen 17.7-cm (7-inch) screen tablets. But now, the company has lined up its high-end range of tablets, ranging from 20.3-cm(8-inch) to 25.4-cm (10-inch) display. “We will be launching a high-end 24.6-cm (9.7-inch) Android 4.0 aka Ice cream sandwich tablet, which will be priced around Rs 13,900,” Dhall said.

Other than tablets, the company is finally looking to enter the smartphone segment in the country with its smartphone devices between 8.8-cm (3.5-inch) and 12.7-cm (5-inch). “We have plans to enter the smartphone segment in India and will launch our first range of Android devices by December. The devices will be priced sub Rs 10,000,” Dhall added.
The company is also looking at the prospect of bringing Windows 8 tablets but Dhall said, it is still early to talk about the possibility as one would have to assess the market response to touch-enabled Windows 8 devices, which have caught everyone's attention but yet to prove its mettle.
Talking about the company's product operation set-up, Dhall said, we have our specified vendors based out of China, to whom we provide the design blue-print for the tablet we would like them to manufacture for us.
All in all, with its entry in the smartphone segment, the company will compete with brands like Micromax, Zync, Intex, iBall, Karbonn, Lava and many more.
