Unilever Opens Up Service Centre In Bengaluru

Infosys and Accenture will continue to support Unilever and shift its staff to the new centre.

Unilever, the manufacturer for consumer products has now established its support system in Bengaluru. This system has been constructed to provide the global operations of the company with all kind of necessary information technology and operational services. The centre sprawls in 220,000 sq ft of area and consists of around 1400 staff members. This will be the biggest operational support centre.
The firm is known as Hindustan Unilever in India and sells a huge range of products in the country. There are some well known brand like Sunsilk, Lux, Lipton, etc, that are sold by Unilever. “The new centre will provide services such as IT innovation, information management services and support finance department to both Unilever as well as its Indian arm Hindustan Unilever,” reports Economic Times.

Paul Polman, CEO, Unilever, said that the Bengaluru-based service centre is expected to build up an information technology ecosystem in India. And with time, Unilever plans to expand the centre's capacity. He also said that some innovative activities will be held out at the centre, which will include building and supporting global SAP platforms for both the companies. Also, the IT service vendors like Infosys and Accenture will shift their staff to this new centre.
Four Unilever plants were shut down in the UK and about 800 jobs were cut down. It had a revenue of 13.4 billion by the end of third quarter, which was due to the huge sales happening in the developing market. And the Asian countries like India, China, Indonesia contribute to 55 per cent to the overall revenue of Unilever.
