Thursday, November 22, 2012:
Philips Electronics India has unveiled its first LED customer experience centre, LightNEXT in Chennai. The company is looking forward to open more LightNEXT showrooms across major cities in India to strengthen its partnership with government, urban planners, architects and lighting professionals. The showroom has dedicated zones for retail, office, home, hospitality and outdoor, allowing consumers to understand the dynamics of integrated lighting solution and its settings.
Nirupam Sahay, president, Philips Lighting India said, “With our product portfolio for LED lighting, we want to fill in the awareness and experience gap that exists in the minds of lighting professionals and users. At LightNEXT, we have brought alive numerous possibilities of LED lighting that will change the way users think about lighting. We have set up more than 10 new LED lighting solutions designed to create inspiring ambiences both in buildings and outdoors while reducing energy consumption and operational costs.”

“Normally, offices spend between Rs 2,000 and Rs 4,000 per sq ft for interior decoration and about Rs 80 goes towards lighting. With LED solutions, customers can gain at least a minimum of 40 per cent energy savings with an average payback period of less than a year,” Sahay said.
LED lighting offers energy savings of up to 80 per cent in several applications and an average of 40 per cent for all lighting. LED's can also be used in a hybrid manner.
According to Frost and Sullivan, the Indian LED market is expected to reach $478 million by 2015 from $101 million in 2011, growing at 46 per cent year-on-year and street lighting is expected to contribute close to half of the market revenues in 2012.
