Samsung India aims to increase consumers' involvement with this initiative. Commenting on the initiative, Rahul Saighal, chief marketing officer, Samsung India, said, “This is an innovative way of bringing Indian together. They create a piece of art and upload it digitally. Galaxy Note II was an inspiration for such an event because its tagline goes 'increadibly creative'. Galaxy Note II is an exciting device and its all about creativity and multi-functionality. Samsung invites Indians to immortalise their creations in the form of Guinness World Records achievement. The final installation will be put together by the artist duo of Thukral and Tagra.”
Participants have multiple options available to them to express their creativity and be a part of history in making. They can either log on to www.samsung.com or visit Samsung Facebook page at www.facebook.com/SamsungMobileIndia where an online app will help them in creating their masterpiece and submitting digitally.
Consumers wishing to participate can also visit any of the Samsung Digital Plazas, Samsung Smartphone Café's and Samsung Experience Zones, where they can use a Samsung Galaxy Note II to create their digital art piece and submit online. Consumers can also create an art piece offline, scan and e-mail their contributions through www.samsung.com. Samsung Galaxy Note II users can also freely create and submit their contributions online at www.samsung.com. While participants can submit multiple entries, for the official Guinness World Records attempt, only one entry per person/ unique email id will be considered.
Samsung will give away exciting prizes along with Samsung Galaxy Note II smartphone and Samsung Galaxy Note II merchandise for participation. The initiative kicked off in Select City Walk mall, New Delhi in the presence of Bollywood actress Genelia D'Souza and artist duo of Thukral and Tagra. Speaking on the initiative, Genelia D'Souza, said, “I am art lover myself and I have a great collection of art pieces back home. My husband Riteish Deshmukh is also an avid lover himself. It is my love for art that brings me to the occasion.”
When asked about having a hands-on experience of the device, the actress said, “I have just used Note II and the S Pen for giving a signature. I do not know much about the phone but it looks good and I would surely want to know more about it.”
Galaxy Note from Samsung has been a successful device in the Indian market. Samsung claims that Note II has also been doing well in the Indian market since its launch in September. Saighal said, “Note II targets a specific segment. It is for people who like to keep large devices and expect their smartphone to be more than what others can do. Samsung expects Note II to touch newer heights in terms of success in the market.”
The Note II is said to be thinner than its predecessor at 9.4mm and will come in 16/32/64GB storage options. Galaxy Note II features a 13.9-cm (5.5-inch) Super AMOLED HD display, 1.6GHz quad-core CPU and 2GB of RAM. The device also comes with 8MP rear camera, 1.9MP front camera and a 3,100mAh battery.
The company has made quite a few changes on the software front in Note II. It sports a new feature called Air View, which allows users to hover with the S-Pen over an email, image gallery, or video to preview its content without having to open it.
The company has also included Pop-up Note in Note II which lets users make/edit a note on the screen while using another app. The device is available in retail stores across India.
