Solar power may sound like an alien technology to people in India but the government is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that the rapid utilisation of petroleum resources takes a back seat.
Till now, solar energy was regarded as a costly proposition, which, it still is but the country's large sized population has left no choice but to ponder over making use of it. We are witnessing gradual progression in an effort to promote solar resources like power, cooking etc. One such effort is being done by the Raj Bhawan in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

The Bhawan is all set to make a green statement by embracing solar power, as per a news report in The Times of India. According to officials, a 30 kilowatt solar power plant will be set up on the premises of the governor’s house at an estimated cost of Rs 10 million by the Odisha Renewable Energy Development Agency (OREDA).
“Raj Bhawan was covered under the central government’s Special Area Demonstration Programme. Majority of the project has been completed and the solar power plant is likely to be commissioned by this December,” said Anirudh Rout, chief executive, OREDA referring to the landmark achievement of the governors residence.
