Tuesday, November 06, 2012:
The renowned writer and poet, William Shakespeare is back with his plays in the 21 century through the tablets. He wrote down some evergreen plays like 'Romeo and Juliet' and 'Macbeth' which have now found their ways through iPad apps.
“These plays have been released through iPad Apps by Cambridge University Press, which combines the texts with audio performances, commentary and other interactive content, transforming the classic plays for the digital age. The apps are part of a new series called Explore Shakespeare that was introduced by the British publishing house to expand the playwright's reach to casual readers,” reports TOI.

The application focuses on the text but the readers can always switch on to glossaries, pictures, notes and synopses. It is designed in a way that the reader imagines the play in his mind and visualises everything.
Primarily, this app was designed with consumers in mind but then it was turned towards the educational part with students picking it up over its print counterpart.
Readers who come across a problem of understanding the phrases or some words can tap on to it and get an instant meaning. The application consists of a full audio play from artists like Kate Beckinsale and Martin Sheen.
As of now, the app is just available for iPads as it dominated the segment in the west but other operating systems like Android and Windows 8 are also being considered.
