Thursday, October 25, 2012:
Adobe recently joined NASSCOM Foundation’s BiGTech program to donate its Software Licenses to NGOs in India. With this initiative, BiGTech will become a one-stop-shop for Indian NGOs’ software needs to help optimize their IT budgets. Microsoft, Quick Heal, Bytes of Learning, Eagle Conferencing and BUSY Infotech have also associated with the Foundation, and its partner – TechSoup Global, to enable software donations worth over Rs. 20 crores, to nearly 700 NGOs in India.

“For NASSCOM Foundation, accessibility is at the core of all the initiatives undertaken to empower NGOs and communities across India. This partnership will enable NGOs access to software solutions at a click of a button, and scale up their operations effectively. With Adobe’s support to our BiGTech initiative, we expand our offerings from general technology to strategic program needs such as the vast skilling effort across India.” said Rita Soni, CEO, NASSCOM Foundation.
“Adobe is committed to creating positive change by donating its software products to not-for-profit organizations worldwide, equipping them with tools that can help enhance their digital and creative capabilities,” said Michelle Crozier Yates, Director, Corporate Social Responsibility at Adobe. “NASSCOM Foundation and the entire TechSoup Global Network present an opportunity to connect with these organizations worldwide.”
Swayam Shikshan Prayog (SSP) has received donations from BiGTech and recently purchased Adobe products. Prema Gopalan, Executive Director, says, “SSP’s goal is to enhance employability for rural youth. Enhancing IT skills and giving the ability to present ideas using Adobe helps young people express who they are to potential employers with confidence. We plan to teach them - never used before - skills like desktop publishing. And to create Flash presentations of our women entrepreneurs as role models who can inspire.”
With the BiGTech program, NASSCOM Foundation covers over 138 districts in over 26 states across India. Adobe products like CreativeSuite, Photoshop and Dreamweaver will help fulfill the critical requirement of NGOs to be able to tell their stories and give India’s youth opportunities in the information economy. The product donations are available for both Windows and Mac platforms.
