EKEN Intros Budget Android Tablets Upwards Of Rs 6,900

The company is looking to make the most of the market potential for low-cost tablets in the country with its affordable range of products.

EKEN Electronics, a Hongkong-based tablet maker, has unveiled its range of low-cost Android tablets in the country.
The company has marketed its Android tablets under the name "EKEN Leopard" in the price range Rs 6,900 to Rs 11,999.
"India is an exploding market with huge potential for cost effective tablets. This factor influenced us to launch quality budget tablets in India and this will enable computing advantage to everyone",said, Edison Chang, CEO, EKEN Electronics.

"The company has tied up with Kerala-based Aldous Glare Trade & Exports (AGTE) for an exclusive national distribution of the entire range of EKEN tablets in India," said George Thomas, CEO, AGTE.
The company is hoping to sell 10,000 units a month starting December this year in Kerala.
EKEN Leopard tablets support Android's Google play store which has five lakh plus applications suitable for all types of customers. The entire range of tablet models come with 8 GB internal storage.
The tablets come with a built-in 1.3 MP front-facing camera for video calling. The tablets are available in sizes 17.7 cm (7 inch), 20.3 cm (8 inch) and 24.6 cm (9.7 inch).
Tablets with 3G and GPS models are also available. They have 1080P HD video playback capabilities, while they get data support through Wi-Fi and 3G dongle. EKEN tablets support up to 32 GB of expandable memory through the onboard SD card slot. They have a sleek and slim design and weigh only 230 gm.
Another day, another tablet; this is how the story is unfolding these days. We have seen people talking about the Indian market’s potential when it comes to low-cost tablets, and is proven by the fact that everyday we see one or the other manufacturer joining in the bandwagon.
Anyhow, no one is complaining and there is a hope that the fierce competition will bring out the best in quality products from the tablet makers, which is imperative.
