The D Labs of BIT Mesra will fly to Sydney, Australia to represent India at the Imagine Cup 2012 World Finals in July. The final winner will receive a grand prize money of Rs 13,02,875 ($25,000).
The D Lab team consists of three students - Devesh Kumar, Amit Kumar Sharma and Abhishek Kumar - and one student of National Institute of Fashion Technology, Patna - Deepali Sinha. Kevin Turner, chief operating officer, Microsoft Corporation, handed over the trophy to them on 25 April.
Speaking exclusively to EFYTimes.com, Devesh Kumar, team leader, The D Labs said, "We formed a proper team just two months back and we are glad that we won it. Even a day before the competition our project was not working properly. At last we showed a pretty good team work to win the competition."
"We have developed a software for students suffering from dyslexia. Our software will improve the learning abilities of these students. Our solution uses Windows Azure, Kinect and Silverlight and records minute details about the activities of the student. After which it creates solutions suited to the needs of the student," added Kumar.
It is noteworthy to mention here that the Microsoft Imagine Cup is the world's premier student technology competition which provides an opportunity to students to use their creativity and knowledge of technology to help solve global challenges in the world.
