Thursday, March 01, 2012:
Google has announced that it will offer up to one million dollars in prize to hackers who can hack the Chrome browser. The idea is to expose bugs and vulnerabilities in the browser.
Google terms it as a ‘big learning opportunity'. Google employees Chris Evans and Justin Schuh spoke about three ways in which hackers can win by detecting bugs and vulnerabilities in their technology.
The first prize of $60,000 will go to each hacker who can find a ‘Full Chrome exploit’. Full Chrome exploit is a flaw that can be found exclusively on Chrome. The second prize worth $ 40,000 will be given to the hackers who can find a ‘Partial Chrome exploit’ which means a bug that may also exist in other programs.

|
The ‘Consolation rewards’ of $20,000 will be awarded to the hackers who expose ‘exploits’ that are not Chrome-specific, but affect users of all Internet browsers.
According to the blog post by Google Chrome Security Team, the company said, "We will issue multiple rewards per category, up to the 1 million dollar limit, on a first-come-first served basis.” Each winner will also get a Chromebook.
Such incentive program was earlier offered by Facebook for exposing bugs.
