Wednesday, February 29, 2012:
As the rumours regarding the launch of Apple's third generation of its best-selling iPad tablet have been doing rounds since last year, it now seems that the official release of the iPad 3 is imminent.
The company is holding a product event on March 7 in San Francisco, where, in all probability, Apple will showcase the iPad 3 tablet PC officially to the millions who were waiting eagerly for the arrival of the latest version of the iPad.

Apple said in an invitation, which features a picture of an iPad screen, "We have something you really have to see. And touch." However, Trudy Muller, a spokeswoman for Cupertino, California-based Apple, declined to comment beyond the information in the event invitation. The unconfirmed specs of the device suggest that the iPad 3 will come equipped with a high-definition display, run a faster processor and work with speedier wireless networks, reports TOI.
Being assembled by Apple's main manufacturing partner, Foxconn Technology Group, the Apple iPad 3 is expected to come equipped with a wireless standard called long-term evolution, or LTE to compete with Google's Android devices, Amazon Kindle Fire and other smartphone makers who have already incorporated LTE technology on their latest devices.
Reportedly, the company may also launch an updated Apple TV set-top box at the March event. The new Apple TV set-top box is designed to stream higher-resolution video to consumers' televisions.
Although it's too early to guesstimate the next generation iPad price, but tech sites are estimating that there's a great chance Apple will not launch the iPad 3 at an inflated price. It would rather price the iPad 3 at $499 (the current starting price of the iPad 2), while the iPad 2 would likely drop to about $399, and the original iPad to $299, or possibly even $199.
