Saturday, February 25, 2012:
The security of Android devices has always been a major concern. Now, cybersecurity experts have discovered a flaw in the operating system, which can help the hackers gain control of any Android device.
Researchers of CrowdStrike, a start-up cyber security firm uncovered a bug in Google's Android operating system which can launch attacks and control your Android devices. The start-up plans to demonstrate its findings at a computer security conference in San Fransisco next week. Experts explained the attack process by saying that any hacker can send an e-mail or text message, which appears to come from a trusted source like the phone carrier. This message directs the user to click on the given link which can infect the device if clicked. The hacker can attain complete control over the device and can track phone calls and the location of the device, revealed Dmitri Alperovitch, chief technology officer and co-founder of CrowdStrike.

However, Google declined to comment on any such issue. The cyber security firm said that they want to highlight how mobile devices are prone to the type of attacks being carried on PCs. Hackers tend to exploit the flaws of the devices with malicious software, which is delivered by attached documents or tainted links. Alperovitch emphasised that users should be prepared for such attacks which cannot be identified by mobile security software. He said that this attack can work on every smartphone with modifications and use of different exploits.
