Although Aakash hasn't made an official public entry for the general masses, India's much hyped tablet is getting commissioned with new roles each passing day. While delivering a speech at the India Semiconductor Association's Vision Summit, the Union Cabinet Minister for HRD, Communications and IT, Kapil Sibal underlined new details about Aakash.
In order to fight corruption and eliminate middlemen, Kapil Sibal said that the Unique Identification Authority of India's Aadhaar and the Aakash tablet could be used together.
"Aakash and Aadhaar can be used to resolve many of the issues. Apart from a law, we need an ecosystem to reduce the possibilities of corruption," he further added.

He said the Centre was asking States to indicate the services that could be delivered publicly and said that the deadline was five years, which meant that all services would be available across the country within this time, reports The Hindu.
Also, there were more announcements in store for Aakash. First, the production of Aakash would become completely indigenous, with a probable 'Made in India' tag.
Second, the world's cheapest tablet, which presently costs Rs 2,276, will become more cheaper. He hinted that the tablet price will be reduced to around Rs 1,500 in the future as volumes pick up.
In other recent developments, IITs of Kanpur, Madras and Mumbai are set to pitch in and guide the Aakash project through its next stages.
