Tulip Unveils Asia's Largest Data Center In Bengaluru

Enterprise data services provider Tulip Data Center Services, a subsidiary of Tulip Telecom has recently unveiled a Rs 9 billion worth of 'Tulip Data City,' that is Asia's largest data center in Bengaluru. Tulip Data City, at present has orders worth Rs 6 billion from IBM, HP and NTT.
The Tulip Data City is an energy efficient multi-leveled facility that is expected to save close to 35 MW power at full capacity. With a view to book 25 per cent capacity by FY 2012, the company has been implementing various sales and marketing programme to reach the target. At the same time, the company is determined towards to Rs 10 billion return in the next three years.

"The launch of this world class facility is aligned with our vision to become one of the largest players in the data services space globally. With this, the data center is now a completely independent operational subsidiary with a strong financial backbone, operational infrastructure and a robust organization," said Lt Col HS Bedi, CMD, Tulip Telecom.
The data center is spread across 0.9 million sq ft and has the capacity to house up to 12,000 racks, backed by up to 100 MW of power. The facility also comprises integrated building management systems and offers seating space for up to 1500 people, enabling enterprises to provide immediate support to their equipment hosted here.
The facility was inaugurated by Sachin Pilot, Minister of State for Communications and IT. Tulip Data City is Tulip Telecom's fifth data center and Lt Col Bedi said that once this center takes off, the company could consider bringing other data centers under this.
