Keeping in mind the interest shown by the people in the last year's event, gnuNify 2012 is organising two programming contests. The two contests, to be organised in the two-day event, include System Programming Contest and Web-based application design and development.
The event will be organised from 10 February to 11 February 2012 at Symbiosis Institute of Computer Studies and Research (SICSR), Pune. According to the official website, this year GNU Nify trends towards 'Emerging and Next generation Technologies in the world of FOSS'.
This year's event will cover workshops and seminars on topics like mobile computing, cloud computing, system programming, emerging languages, sys admin, security and Web technologies.

About System Programming Contest:
The contest will be based on the following topics:
Process
Process Control
File I/O
Signals
Locking Primitives(Mutex/Semaphores)
Multi Threading
Programming Environment/Language to be used
OS: Gnu/Linux
Language: gcc
About the test
Duration: 30 Minutes
Total number of questions 30.
Date:10th February 2012.
Results will be declared the same day.
Selected candidate can then appear for the contest.
Duration of the lab test would be 2 Hours.
Lab test/contest will be held on 11th February 2012.

Sample questions for lab test
Write a program which modifies the current process's limit to open file descriptor.
Set it to 10 and then try to open more than 10 files. You should get "Too many
open files" error.
Hints : setrlimit/getrlimit.
Web-based application design and development
The contest will be based on development of a Web-based application specified during the contest. A small list below indicated what kind of application may have to be developed.
