Saturday, February 04, 2012:
Apple has alleged Samsung's range of Galaxy mobiles and tablets to be submissive copies of iPhone and iPad designs, and has demanded to ban them from sale. The Korean giant and now the world's biggest manufacturer of smartphones has responded by claiming that Apple has breached its 3G technology.
According to Florian Mueller, a German technology consultant said, “Even though Samsung is at this stage the only company to be investigated over this issue, other suspected abusers could face similar inquiries any time. And everyone else who may intend to seek or enforce injunctions based on Frand-pledged-standards-essential patents in Europe will now have to proceed with extra caution.”

"In principle, anti-trust agencies could also try to go after Apple, but in that case, the theory would have to be a different one than Frand-pledged standards-essential patents," he said.
The investigation team has marked a major regulatory intervention in Samsung's dispute with Apple. The dispute is running in the courts of Germany, the United States and Australia. The European Commission has sent two firms requests so far for information in November.
Samsung has not responded on the investigation yet.
