Saturday, February 04, 2012:
Recently it came to surface that Google will no more be supporting the CDMA version on Android's flagship phone. According to a reader on Droid Life, the CDMA/LTE version of the phone had been removed from the Google's developer site. The handset runs Ice Cream Sandwich OS and now the status of Verizon Galaxy Nexus on the Google Code site appears “archived for reference only”.

Verizon Galaxy Nexus is not the only device to be out of the league. The CDMA Motorola Xoom and Sprint Nexus S 4G have also been removed, according to a CNet report. Though Google has assured the LTE Galaxy Nexus and all other “Nexus” devices will still receive timely updates and remain unlocked.
Android Open Source and Compatibility tech lead, Dan Morrill, posted an explanation regarding the issue on the Android Contributors Google Group that, “CDMA Android devices implement core telephony functionality in .apk files provided in binary form by the carriers. To function correctly, these .apk files must be signed by the so-called 'platform' key. However, when an individual creates a custom build from the AOSP source code, they don't use the same signing key as these CDMA flies were signed with, hence, these files don't work properly, and pure AOSP builds running on these devices can't place calls, access mobile data.”
