You have seen, downloaded, installed and finally played the Angry Birds game for some infinite times. Such an idea-turned-goldmine app development is everywhere round the corner. Thanks to the Apple app store, it’s never been easier to try on creating the next big thing app in the market. Tech site Mashable has compiled a few tips that should come handy for app developers before developing an iOS app.
Ascertain the cost: App development does not come cheap, unless you have a relative of yours who is a programmer and/or designer. Specifically coders are more likely to name their prices. The cost for an app can shoot up within the $10,000 to $20,000 bracket, depending on the people hired for the job. The best idea to offload some of the costs is by offering the developers some equity as everybody tries to get a slice of the margins. It is also good to hire people who are local to you--with whom you can meet in person at regular intervals to fine-tune the app development process. Another unavoidable cost comes from Apple that charges $100/year that it holds into the developer's account that is needed to publish your app.

Price factor is important: Be sure not to pitch your app too highly as it will likely pull away buyers. A good idea is to price the app at approx. $1.99 that will give you more than a buck after Apple deducts its 30 per cent. As with most apps it is advantageous to lower the price in festive season and earn a good share rather than beginning with a hefty price tag. But if your primary business model revolves around in-app purchases, ads or the like, you’ll probably want to give your app away for free.
Apple makes its payments on time: If your app goes live in the month of January then you can expect your first payment from Apple sometime in early March. The company sends cash one month at a time and takes around 30-45 days after the month has ended. Also, Apple only pays once your earnings total at least $150, so may have to wait until your app reaches this figure.
Have a catchy iTunes description: The best idea here, is to look for hit apps and review their format. If it works for them then it is more likely going to work for your app too. A catchy intro statement, press blurbs and a list of your key features is all that you need to grab all the attention.
Beta test the app: It is not easy to rotate your unreleased app across iPhones for the sake of beta testing. A website called TestFlight makes way for a great convenience when it comes to detecting those early-stage flaws in the app. The site makes it very easy to send build updates to registered devices, over the air.
